Posey’s healthy view on baseball is rooted in his healthy view of life. In his retirement announcement, Posey said, “I want to be able to do more stuff from February to November with my family” and he spoke to his kids saying, “Being your dad is the greatest joy in my life.” Nine years later he opted out of the shortened 2020 season, and he and his wife adopted another set of twins. In August, 2011 after Posey broke his leg at a home plate collision, he and his wife Kristen welcomed twins into their family. He’s walking away from fame and fortune ($22 million annually) for something far more valuable-family. Most certainly a Hall of Famer, he will be eligible for consideration in Cooperstown in 2027. Posey retired with 158 home runs and exactly 1,500 hits.
